i was frying food in a pan i accidentally hit the pan and it tipped over hot oil and i burned my index and my middle finger,it really hurts right now what should i do?What should i to to treat my hot oil burn?
Run cool, not ice cold, just cool water over the area. Don't put anything on it (butter, mustard, creams, ect) as they will trap the burn and cause it to get worse.
If this is a minor burn (just red and painful, no blisters) just wash the area with cool water, and leave the burn alone. If you feel you must wrap the area (you don't have to) do so with a loose gauze wrap.
If there is any blistering you will feel the need to pop these. Don't! Just wrap the area with a MOIST gauze wrap and consult a doctor todayWhat should i to to treat my hot oil burn?
Cool your fingers by holding them under cold running tap water for 20 minutes. Do not use ice or iced water. The extreme cold causes constriction of the blood vessels %26amp; can worsen injury by reducing blood supply. Wet towels don't work as well, because they warm up when next to your skin.
Do not use butter, oil, salves or creams as they will retain heat.
Remove jewelery, metals %26amp; restrictive clothing from the burnt area
before swelling occurs
DO NOT over-cool the casualty; this may dangerously lower the body temperature.
DO NOT remove anything sticking to the burn; this may cause further damage %26amp; cause infection.
DO NOT touch or interfere with the injured area.
DO NOT burst blisters.
DO NOT apply lotions, ointment, or fat to the injury.
If you need to see a doctor, cover your burn before you go. Cling film works well. Layer the cling film on piece by piece %26amp; hold it in place. Don't cover your burn with anything sticky (such as a sticking plaster) or fluffy (such as cotton wool)
Good Luck
You should put some cool water on the burn to get the burn cooler asap. It is NOT a good thing to keep the finger the same temperature. Hope that this helps
