Does vegetable oil burn in flame?

I was wondering if vegetable oil would burn in a flame. One time I was cooking up french fries which vegetable oil, and a lot of it dripped out onto the stove. However, I noticed that it did not burn. The flame was still going. How does vegetable oil burn in flame?Does vegetable oil burn in flame?
Yes vegetable oil will burn if exposed to an open flame. There are a number of factors that influence whether a given substance will burn or not. Flammability - will it produce a gas that can be ignited. Flash point - The temperature that a substance will give off enough vapor to ignite. Fire point - The temperature that the substance gives off enough vapor to sustain a flame . Ignition temperature - The Temperature a vapor needs to be heated to to ignite. etc

As you can see there is a lot that affects whether something will burn at any given time. that goes for all flammable substances whether vegetable oil or gasoline. Putting this all together gets a little complex and long for these answers. You might try looking on line under chemistry of combustion or fire.Does vegetable oil burn in flame?
Vegetable oil needs to be mixed with air in order to reliably combust. It could be atomized through a nozzle to do this.

Each type of oil has it's own combustion temperature- many vegetable oils have higher combustion temperatures than animal fats. Any oil will burn at a high enough temperature, so your are lucky the oil did not meet the flame in such a way as to ignite the pot rather than burn off to varnish as it dripped down.

Many houses have been burned down by grease fires started in the kitchen. A grease fire can be made worse by throwing water on it in an attempt to extinguish it. If you have a grease fire cover the pot with a metal lid and smother the remaining fire with flour, a towel, or the proper type of extinguisher.

Good luck.
oh yes trust me I know from experience
Yes it does, but the ignition point is high.
Yes, is very dangerous. And if happens, NEVER put water on it.
