How can i convert my outdoor wood furnance to burn used motor oil?

I don't know if I would reccomend it. Motor oil produces a lot of nasty, toxic, bad smelling stuff unless it is burned properly. IF you are sure it can be done, them I'm probably not the one to ask. A better option might be burning used cooking oil from restraunts, that's a lot cleaner burning.

In either case, you are probably going to need to reclaim some parts from an old, dedicated oil burning furnace. If you can find a working burner assembly, and rig up a filtering system it might work. Be sure it's vented properly, as there is always a risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Good luck with that....

Does your honda accord burn oil?

i live i england and i have a honda accord es 2.0l vtech and it burns quite a lot of oil does any body else have the same problem. i think its because of the v-tech.its a very fast car and when i have it past 4,500 rpm it flyz.Does your honda accord burn oil?
i drove my accord till i had 225,000 miles on it and it still ran great. the one problem i did have was a small oil leak as it got older. check the little bolt on top of the head. if it isnt tight tighten it . it never caused any other problems in my accord i just had to make sure i checked it once in a whileDoes your honda accord burn oil?
when you say burn oil do you mean you smell it from the exhaust? if you see black but usually blue smoke or smell oil burning it is probably the rings. if your cars spits and sputters or skips at idle or low speed it may be the seals on your valves. i had a honda that kept fouling the plugs and it had a bad ring seal that was allowing the oil to be thrown up on the bottom of the plug. yes the car would still fly but would act up on the low end.if you see no smoke or smell no oil your car isn't actually burning it. in that case park the car on the level and put a big piece of cardboard under it. that way you can see if it is leaking oil rather than burning it. you can tell about where it is leaking by where it lands on the cardboard.do you change the oil as recommended. if not leaving the oil in for an extended period will make the car ';burn'; the oil because it's viscosity is too low and the motor actually cooks the oil as it heats up.check the top of the motor for old oil.also i once had the oil filter spring a leak. check that. if you had the oil changed check to see(if so equipped) the place put the gasket or washer back on the dran plug in your oil pain that happened to me once. also with thge car running check the oil pan for a smell pin hole leaking or rust. it could be a worn out pan seal or valve cover gasket as well.

  • How do you know if a oil burn is infected?

i was cooking and some hot oil splattered on my arm and it had blistered and now it looks infected but im not sureHow do you know if a oil burn is infected?
Have the blisters burst? If they have then this creates an opportunity for an infection to take hold. If not, then its less likely, but still possible.

I would recommend seeing a doctor, I can't diagnose it without seeing itHow do you know if a oil burn is infected?
I get hit with hot oil all the time. Next time make sure you take it over to some ice water and hold it down in the water until your skin is numb. Hot oil keeps burning your skin unless you cool it off, even if it looks like it isn't. You should have bubbled up with a blister (or not if it was a bad, or not a bad burn sometimes you do, sometimes you dont), if the blister popped and tore, then maybe bacteria could have gotten into the wound. The way you know is if the skin ';around'; the burn is red.

Its hard to tell with burns. But normal stuff oozing out of a burn should be clear-ish. Cloudy or hazy or pus-y looking stuff is bad news. OR if the skin is hot to the touch, the skin around it is red, or if you have the suspicion something is wrong (it's your subconcious telling you to get help)

Try to keep it uncovered so it has a chance to heal. If it gets worse, and doesn't start crusting over and the redness goes away (if it;'s infected the ';crust'; will appear to ';slide';) then...sorry, you really need some help. (depending on the size, I've waited out things about the size of a pea, but stuff bigger than a quarter or if you have a compromised immune system? Then you need to go to the doctor.

Or you can be stubborn. Some people get by with antibiotic cream, but I don't reccomend neosporin, for some reason it doesn't work well. Use a spray, it's lighter and doesn't need to be rubbed on.

How does flaxseed oil, fish oil, and omega 3 fatty acid help burn fat quicker?

I have some soft gel tablets I take along with drinking lots of water and doing high intensity cardio when I'm working out on a empty stomach so I can max out the fat that I want to burn. How does this work for the body (soft gels). Can you double your fat burn along with high intensity cardio when taking this supplement? How does it burn the fat also? How does flaxseed oil, fish oil, and omega 3 fatty acid help burn fat quicker?
these are high density lipoproteins (fats also but good ones). these don't burn fats but help remove low density lipoproteins(bad cholesterol) from your system. How does flaxseed oil, fish oil, and omega 3 fatty acid help burn fat quicker?
Studies with omega-3 shows it may lower cholesterol levels, platelet aggregation and blood pressure.'; There is no evidence that it helps burn fat.

Can I burn green diesel fuel in a home oil furnace?

I know I can burn the red diesel in my furnace but I cannot find anyone close who sells itCan I burn green diesel fuel in a home oil furnace?
yes it's basically the sameCan I burn green diesel fuel in a home oil furnace?
The reason diesel fuel is dyed red is to make sure it is used as a heating fuel and not for vehicle or road use. This is Uncles way of making sure the road tax is paid. Owners of boats using taxed diesel can get a rebate at the end of the year when used in boats. No road tax on oceans and lakes. Clear, red, or green its still all the same
Yes. It is colored green because of the road tax of diesel. It works the same.

Is it bad for a car to burn 1 quart within 3000 miles before change oil?

And will the car fail the smog test for sure.Is it bad for a car to burn 1 quart within 3000 miles before change oil?
It's a bit more than I've experienced. It does indicate some wear but nothing out of the ordinary. The catalytic converter should be more than adequate to handle the excess. It might even be leaking a bit of that under load sometimes the engine will lose a bit of oil due to higher pressure so you may not be burning as much as you think. I wouldn't worry about it, if it really is bothering you have a compression test run on your engine. Is it bad for a car to burn 1 quart within 3000 miles before change oil?
1/3 qt per 1,000 miles is not an issue. Many motors consume more than that. MY LS-2: Pontiac says above 3,000 rpms the engine can consume oil so they get out of any warranty complaints. And GM also stated they are not going to pay any warranty clames for motors damaged due to lack of lubrication. Typically I drive hard and consume 1qt per 1,000 miles with no bad effect. The Cat converter cleans up any smoke and left over hydrocarbons.
have u changed brands of oil if so change back check air filter pcv valve make sure to use a quality oil if u dont add will it keep using i have seen vehicles that just like two burn off the top quart leave them a quart low they never go below that run them hard they will use for sure if u are pullin a load do u let it idle it will make ur oil dirty faster creates soot what weight are u using maybe try a heavier one
This is a point that you can find in some manufactured cars but not existed in other brands. I dont know why the cars that have this point dont try to enhance their engines to the same quality of other cars.

Generally maintain the coolent as overheating causes oil leakage.
is normal for a car to burn about a quart of oil about every 800 miles. they'res ways around the smog test.

  • My co-op's 2 boilers burn 210,000 gallons of oil a year. Any reason not to switch to much cheaper natural gas?

In terms of equivalent heating capacity, natural gas today costs less than half as much as heating oil, so switching makes sense for high volume users. Gas burns cleaner than oil, so that's another advantage. Some people say gas is more dangerous than oil, but insurance actuaries treat them the same. If you can, it would make sense to go dual fuel, which means keeping your capacity to use oil if it becomes cheaper or more readily available. We produce about 90% of natural gas domestically and have good reserves, but import about 85% of our oil and have short reserves, so that might be a long-term consideration. My co-op's 2 boilers burn 210,000 gallons of oil a year. Any reason not to switch to much cheaper natural gas?
Oil contains more energy per unit, so the conversion factor is not as good as you might think. Also, you have less flexibility in suppliers for gas as compared to oil.

Can you buy more efficient boilers? And, can you conduct a detailed energy audit to find ways to reduce the energy use?My co-op's 2 boilers burn 210,000 gallons of oil a year. Any reason not to switch to much cheaper natural gas?
Gas may or may not be cheaper for heating the same amount of water. There is also the cost of having gas brought into the building from the nearest gas main. This can be very expensive depending on the distance.
Have you considered a heat pump? Expensive start up costs but pays for itself in about 7 years. May be cheaper than gas in the long run the way how gas cost is rising
Why not switch to an anaerobic digester and you can have the entire co-op run off it's poop, talk about locally produced power!!

Why do Saturns sl of the 90's burn oil?

I have a 94 saturn sl1 single cam, it burns oil and i just want to know what it could be. I have seen a few other cars that look a like with the same problem. Why do Saturns sl of the 90's burn oil?
The reasons vary. If you follow most of the owner comments on the saturnfans.com forum, you'll notice that some owners have no oil burning at all, and others have severe oil burning. No one knows the exact cause... as it may be from various reasons. Some things that have been speculated have included valve timing, bad piston seals, etc...

However, batting around theory doesn't really help your immediate problem. My suggestion is to try simple fixes first. On the Saturns I've seen burn the ';least'; oil, I've noticed that the PCV valves have moved cleanly and freely when removed. Those which burn more (greater than 1 quart/3000 miles) tend to have plugged or impaired PCV Valves.

So my suggestion is to go to your Saturn retailer, or perhaps mail order for a replacement valve... but be sure to ONLY buy the OEM Valve. Do NOT buy an aftermarket. You will send your Saturn to a quick demise with a non GM/Saturn Valve. A few owners have suffered valve/head damage from a bad purchase. The valves don't cost that much, probably a few bucks. If you don't have a retailer close to you, you could clean them with gasoline and see how that works for you.

    Good luck.

Why does the '02 nissan frontier motor burn oil?

so why does it?Why does the '02 nissan frontier motor burn oil?
    Hello S77

The reason any vehicle burns more oil than it should is because the rings around the pistons are worn, broke or just bad. When you have bad rings the oil that is lubricating the engine is allowed to creep up into the expansion chamber where the spark plug explodes the compressed gasoline which forces the piston down. When oil has compromised the expansion camber the spark causes a type of smoke which would be bluish gray if this is the case. There could be other internal problems such as valve guides but either way you have internal problems. As long as it's not a oil leak that's drip onto the exhaust system while driving and shows no ground drippings. Good Luck BSWhy does the '02 nissan frontier motor burn oil?
What size 2.4 liter or 3.3 liter V-6? Oil consumption is something Nissans do not do. Unless there has been abuse like lack of oil changes, overheated or running with out an air filter element.

What is a great tanning oil with spf to help me not burn yet tan?

i want to get tan, but i want to stay protected. when i put just sunscreen on, i don't seem to tan.

but when i put just oil on, i burn.

if i put both oil and sunscreen on, will i tan? i don't want to take the risk of trying and just getting burned or not tan at all.

if not, is there a good tanning oil with spf that someone can suggest? What is a great tanning oil with spf to help me not burn yet tan?
anything by Banana Boat works wellWhat is a great tanning oil with spf to help me not burn yet tan?
I know I will get lots of ';thumbs down'; but I do not obsess about sunscreen too much anymore. Turns out the chemicals in sunscreen are more carcinogenic than the sun's rays. I would keep your skin moisturized and build up the tan by limiting the the initial amount of time you spend in the sun and increasing it slightly every time. Once you have nice color, you can spend more time in the sun.
Oil is really bad to tan with!! Use a normal suncream, your skin will thank you later for it!!

I believe you can use sunbed creams too - although I believe they don't contain spf, you could use both though. Sunbed lotions kick start your tan quicker, and contain heaps of vitamins. Australian Gold are are the best tanning lotions. Maybe even go on a few sunbed sessions of 4-5 mins mins to start your tan, then tan as normal outside.

Remember though, don't over do it, over tanning is a skin killer.

To the above poster, I too have worked in a tanning salon and baby oil is the WORST thing to tan with: tanning in a sunbed with baby oil is completely pointless as it repels and detracts the uv rays AWAY from your skin! And tanning in natural sunlight with is dangerous as it really fries your skin.
I use Banana Boat Dark Tanning Oil with either SPF 4 or SPF 8... depending on how dark you want to get or how many hours you will be outside.

Make sure to cover any moles with a drop of SPF 30 or more, melanoma is a very serious possibility.
the best thing that works is baby oil i would know because my sis works at a taningslan and she told me that is the best thing for your skin and u get a great tan
the best thing to use is ';spray on: spf 30'; it works very well (i personally know!)

make sure you re-apply the spray every 35-40 minutes ore else you'll burn!

(use a thin layer of evenly spread spray for best effects!)

Can home oil burner burn diesel fuel?

Kerosene, Diesel #2, and #2 fuel oil are terms commonly applied to the same fuel. Blue dye is to indicate that it is higher in sulfur and should not be used on most on road diesel engines. Red dye indicates that the fuel is not taxed and is for off road purposes only. Violations if caught is an instant $ 1,000 fine. Can home oil burner burn diesel fuel?
yesCan home oil burner burn diesel fuel?
Yes, but why not go with biodiesel and save even more. Go to your local McDonalds and ask for their large drums of used cooking oil and burn them. Just strain them out and pour it in. Smells like fries.
diesel fuel, kerosene and fuel oil are all basically the same as far, as your furnace is concerned anyway.
Diesel fuel and number 2 home heating oil is the same thing. The only difference is that a blue dye is added to diesel to make it look different.

Since diesel is usually more expensive than heating oil (due to taxes) why would you want to burn diesel to heat your home? Most people go the other way around and put #2 oil into their diesel cars, even though it's illegal.

Not really, tea tree oil is an antiseptic - like putting rubbing alcohol on it. Use something with Aloe in it.

When I get razor burn, I like to use Aveeno Diaper Rash Ointment (like Desitin but it's a much better product). It isn't magic but if you put it on at night, the effected areas are cleared up by the morning.

I naturally have very sensitive skin and if I don't keep myself moisturized, I get razor burn very easily. I really like the Aveeno products, and I like using their shaving gels...any one of them really helps me get a close, smooth shave and mitigates razor burn.

What type of engine oil should I use if my car burn too much oil?

    -blue smoke

    -crown vic 94

THANXWhat type of engine oil should I use if my car burn too much oil?
Never put 10W-40 in any gasoline engine. No manufacturer as ever recommended it or does now. Try Valvoline full synthetic 20W -50. Forget Castrol. They have very deceptive advertising practices that compares their full synthetic oil with the leading compeditors regular oil, which leads suckers to think Castrol walks on water. Racers don't even use this garbage.

Have you been keeping up with your regular oil changes? If not flush the crankcase yourself with a quart can or CRC oil flush the next time you change the oil. Fill it with 20W-50 full synthetic Valvoline Racing oil minus a quarts worth of room for one quart of Rislone, a high detergant oil which helps to get the build up off the piston rings, lands and grooves.

Why don't you have a complete compression test done to find out if you have a ring or valve problem. What type of engine oil should I use if my car burn too much oil?
You could go with the high milage oil. Same weight or one a little heavier. if you use 10w30 go to 10w40. There are chemicals in the hi-mile oil that causes the seals to swell to prevent oil from leaking/burning.

Usually the blue smoke is caused from the rings from being worn. But the better oil should help a little. You could also try some additive like smoke-be-gone or something comparable.
At this point my friend, try adding a additive for engines that burn oil or smoke. Then in warmer climates i would run CASTROL 20w50. You really have nothing to lose at this point ! good luck my friend ! P.S if you have high miles DO NOT PUT SLICK 50 IN IT !!!!!
next time you change your oil try and add a bottle of Slick 50 to replace 1 qt of oil and it should seal it. you can find it at walmart or autozone
get the engine rebuilt or find out if it's bad rings or just valve seals and until you do use a straight 30 weight oil as that should help slow the burning down some.
If you've got the 4.6 with the valve guide-seals problem, just run the cheapest 10w30 that you can find.

What is the best oil to fry food in so the food does not burn.?

The last time I fried food I used Canola Oil and the food got too brown. It was NOT on high heat. Is Crisco the best to use. I know I used Crisco many years ago. I want to make Indian Fry Bread and the kids will not eat it if it looks too brown.

Olive Oil is my favorite oil, but would it be good to fry foods in. Thanks. What is the best oil to fry food in so the food does not burn.?
olive oil is good, but i guess you could try cooking oil, or veggie oil, whatever the recipe calls for. What is the best oil to fry food in so the food does not burn.?
No not at all olive oil has a low smoke point. It would begin to burn before it gets to temp to fry your food. Peanut oil is a good choice next to shortening.
Thicker oils do not burn as hot or scald as quickly. So animal fats (lard) and shortening, as you may suspect, are the easiest to fry in to avoid burning. Vegetable oil is the sludgiest non-animal oil and is relatively easy to cook with, compared to canola which is lighter and olive which is very light. (In generaly healthier oil = gets really hot really fast and browns food more quickly.) Keep the heat low enough that the oil isn't smoking regardless of what oil you use. Extra virgin olive oil is only for dressings, not cooking. Use regular olive oil on low heat for cooking.
cod liver oil - actual oil, from the actual liver, of an actual cod.
I'm crazy about Olive Oil. I use it in almost everything! It is so healthy for you!

Honestly, it depends what you are cooking.

You said you are making fry-bread. I would use a bit of olive oil and vegetable oil mixed. The reason for this is that vegetable oil doesn't have a powerful odor or taste, the way that olive oil does. Therefore, you can get the taste of the olive oil with the thickness of the vegetable oil. Why would you want it to be thick? The more separation between the baking pan and the contents... the less chance of burning. That's why you should NEVER use butter as a greaser in baking or frying. Save it for sautee.

    Good luck!

Also - sometimes I put a pinch of salt in the base of my pans before I start cooking because it's supposed to help keep fod from sticking also. It always works when I make muffins.

    HAVE FUN!
I read somewhere that a mixture of olive oil and butter works great. The oil because it's got the flavor, and butter because of the higher cooking temp. Or it may be reverse
    Corn or sunflower oil.

2nd degree burns, specially in the hand are very serious injuries, the scar tissue shrinks, and this might left you with a disability, because you won't be able to move your fingers normally.

An infection is very serious!!! Red is always good, puss is not!

Pls do not use any household cream or anything, go see a doctor!! you might regret it later if you don't

In the meanwhile, wash your hand with sterile water, and cover it with a sterile gauze.
Go to a doctor and get some antibiotics. Burns get infected REALLY easily.
I suggest if you are in any doubt you should see a Doctor, however if you put a coating of honey over the burn area it will help it to heal faster and without scarring. ';Manuka'; Honey is the best type but any runny honey would be fine. Honey has very good healing properties and natural anti-bacterial properties also. I first learned about this from a book by a Chiropractic Doctor and since then have used it successfully to treat burns...even sunburns. It will take away the burning sensation in a short time also!

8 gallons a day may be average but it depends on the average temperature in your area and the size of the nozzle and how efficiently it's running. How many gallons of oil does an average house burn a day?
There are a lot of variables to that questionHow many gallons of oil does an average house burn a day?
At what latitude does the house exist. Is the domestic water heated by oil also. How many people live here and how many are teenagers. How long are the showers and how many laundries are done in a week. How many of the windows are exposed to the sun, how large is the roof overhang, how well insulated is the home and at what temperature is the house kept?

Get my point? You need to compare with something you know. Your best bet is to look at the above questions and instead of comparing with someone else, compete with yourself for improvement. You'll soon find some of your answers.
In new england the ';average'; annual usage is approximately 750 gallons. This year that number may be higher due to the colder winter.

A lot of variables are involved for a specific house.

Should we burn all the oil in the world quickly or use it slowly?

I once heard someone say, to the effect of: why should we slowly use our oil in gas conserving cars/hybrids. What would really push us to develop alternative fuels is if we just burn it as quickly as possible in large SUVs.Should we burn all the oil in the world quickly or use it slowly?
    Slowly.

The switch to alternative fuels will be driven by global warming not by running out of oil.

We are already seeing the effect of pollution released over the last 200 hundred years and we need time to develop cleaner and cleaner technology to slow the acceleration of global warming.Should we burn all the oil in the world quickly or use it slowly?
the faster we use it up the sooner we can do something bout those damn spotted owls
It's not how quickly or slowly we burn it. It's how wisely we use it. It is used for things other than burning. Teaching others to use it wisely will result in a beneficial result.
Definitely slowly so we have more time to invent a car or automobile that runs on something besides gas.

Why do they burn off the gas at the stacks of oil refineries?

Whenever we see an oil refinery, they are burning off gas as a huge flame at the stack. I presume that this gas is a by-product of the refining process, but why can't the energy be put to some constructive use instead of just burning it? There is obviously a reason for what they do, but why must that be the only alternative? Why do they burn off the gas at the stacks of oil refineries?
Usually the gas that you see being flared off is there because there is an upset in the process at some point and they cannot run all areas of the plant at full capacity, so they have to flare the excess gas.

Sometimes they can throttle the flows back, but many times they cannot.

These are usually just temporary operating conditions.

If this was a permanent condition they would install a good waste heat boiler and use it to produce steam or electric power to use elsewhere in the plant.

These plants cannot afford to waste their energy anymore than anyone else. Why do they burn off the gas at the stacks of oil refineries?
I was told that it was cheaper to burn the methane than it was to transport it somewhere else for sale. There isn't a market for it.
These are waste gases coming from many different sources and safety systems but are kept to a minimum. Their recovery would be costly.

Some of the flared gas is simply a pilot flame to ensure that, should a safety relief operate, the gas will ignite as required.

They also serve to indicate problems to be investigated in a system according to the size of the flare.
    Waste gas is flared

sand paper the mark off then rub little drop of kitchen oil onto sanded area job doneIve got a rubberwood butcher block.left an iron on it for 20sec to remove a oil mark how do i remove the burn?
Get yourself a block of wood 4x3x1 inches, several pieces of sand paper 200,400,600 grit. then apply elbow grease.
I build cutting boards as a hobby. Sanding will work but to sand it enough to remove the burn you will likely end up leaving the surface uneven. I would find a local bainet shot and ask then to run it through a planer until the burn is removed (they may charge you 5 bucks or so) then lightly sand with 200 grit sand paper and finisher it with mineral oil.
The only option to sanding the surface off is to colour it. There are some food friendly stains that can be used for this.
A good going over with an orbital sander will do the job.
    Turn it upside down

you can always boil the egg and the take out the yolk =)How do i cook egg whites without any oil/grease and NOT make the base stick/burn?
pam is a great alternative to using fatty oils or butter. However if you dont have any, just make sure that you are lifting the side of the egg while you are cooking it with a non stick heat proof plastic spatula. Metal tends to stick. As long as you continue to lift the egg whites without letting them cook for long periods of time you should be good.

Highly recommend the pam though. I make an egg white only omelet every morning and have never had a problem
I was going to suggest poaching, and that would work for a whole egg, but other than that, try the Pam that others have suggested
You can put water and get it boiling and then cook the egg whites.
    Use some butter or margarine.
    PAM.

Can you burn furnace oil in a karosene heater?

you wanna blow up your house and die?Can you burn furnace oil in a karosene heater?
';Furnace Oil'; is a lower grade fuel. Kerosene is refined more. What will happen is that the furnace oil will most likely smoke a lot more, because it will not burn as cleanly. It'll probably smell (stink) quite a bit more.

If this kerosene heater is going to be used outside, you could probably get away with it... I wouldnt use it indoors tho. I won't burn kerosene indoors without very good ventilaton either...too easy to become poisoned with carbon monoxide.

Will using factor 30 suncream with some baby oil on top still make me burn in the sun?

the baby oil will likely break down the sunscreen, rendering it useless. so yes, you will burn if you put baby oil on your sunscreen. Will using factor 30 suncream with some baby oil on top still make me burn in the sun?
Thats too much oil for your body.

Baby oil doesn't help you to tan, it will fade quickly and isn't a moisturizer so it will suffocate the healthy skin trying to grow underneath the top layer of dead skin.

The SPF should be enough. As long as ur skin is moist, you will absorb the UV rays.

Just wondering, with what SUN in England do you plan on tanning with? lolWill using factor 30 suncream with some baby oil on top still make me burn in the sun?
Why would you put baby oil on top? Leave it off until after you shower at night.

Use the suncream to HELP prevent burning. If you stay out longer than it lasts you will burn. Reapply after a couple hours and after you sweat or swim.
What is the point of putting baby oil on top? The factor 30 suncream will block out the burning rays of the sun. The baby oil doesn't do anything.

it won't smell as strong as a vanilla oil, but I suppose it could work, on it's own, not mixed with oil. You can get oil-based vanilla flavorings at cake, candy, or craft supply stores. Something like that would probably work better, just because the alcohol and water from the vanilla extract will evaporate fairly quickly and leave nothing in the dish.

Why do high mileage engines burn oil?

easy answer ware on valve train and rings on your pistons internally or leaks around your engine externallyWhy do high mileage engines burn oil?
Some leaks into the combustion chamber past worn piston rings and valve seals from lubricated areas. You've gotten a good life out of a motor if you drove enough to start burning oil.Why do high mileage engines burn oil?
The rings are worn down. People over rev a cold engine before it has good oil pressure and the rings are dry from sitting all night.

Running a thicker oil slows down oil consumption.
Because the cylinders and rings are worn. So oil gets passed them and into the combustion area
because of wear increasing clearance between cylinder walls %26amp; piston sealing rings allowing oil to get into the combustion chamber and combustion gasses %26amp; pressure to get into the crankcase. also wear on the valve stem seals %26amp; guides allowing oil to be sucked past them %26amp; burned in the combustion chamber
    Dear Oil Consumption-

As the parts of an engine Break-In the open to larger diameters in the Pistons and Valves.

Lets do a little Automotive 101.

Frequent oil changes keep this wear to a minimum. But as with any moving metallic parts they eventually wear a pattern into the corresponding parts. This opens the specifications to a worn state. In some cases when the wear has reached a critical state then engine no longer will have enough compression to fire the cylinders.

The problem that you are experincing is called Blow By. Sometimes using oil additives, or a heavier oil can help control come of the consumption problem. But this only relates to pistons in the cylinders.

The other place that oil is pulled into the combustion chamber is through the valve stems in the cylinder head. If the stems or guides are worn you may have to have the cylinder head(s) serviced to eliminate the problem. Another problem is the valve seals. In GM products this consists of a small rubber O-Ring directly under the keeper plate on the valve. Some vehicles us an umbrella seal too. If these seals are faulty, or worn the oil that lubricates the valves is pulled down the stem and into the combustion chamber from the engine vacuum created on the intake stroke. The oils is then pulled into the combustion chamber and burned with your air/fuel mixture.

If the leakage is severe enough, this can cause oil fouling of the spark plugs, (gasoline engines), and severe smoking. On Diesel engines, this can not only create additonal smoke, but it can foul the Glow Plugs, and if severe enough, the engine may not shut down when the ingition is turned off. Yes Diesel Engines can run on their own oil too.

The repairs for oil consuming engines can be cost prohibitive. This may include boreing and hoaning the cylinders, installing new piston rings, engine bearings, and cylinder head service, to include new valve seals, guides, valves, valve seats and any additional parts to get the job completed. Basically an engine overhaul.

In some cases, if you desire to keep the car, your best bet is to purchase a replacement engine. This can be cheaper in total cost than having your engine overhauled.

But before you approach this point, try changing your oil to a heavier weight, such at 20w-50 or a selection of straight weights like SAE 30 or 40. Add a oil additive like STP and see if that helps control the oil comsumption. A product that is sold at the GM Dealerships is called EOS, (Engine Oil Suppliment). It is an excellent product.

I hope this helps you out. Good luck!

The #1 diesel used in cars will make your furnace happy and burn clean. The #2 diesel used as home heating oil will work in your car until it gets cold in the winter. Cost is the big problem (fuel taxes can make things complicated even illegal) #1 costs more than #2. RScott

    do your research first.

sometimes the fuel lines have to be changed. mineral oil doesnt ';eat up'; fuel lines that its designed to go through, but organic oil sometimes does.

you may need to get a heater in your tank.

you may need to run a dual tank system, with a small tank for diesel (used for starting and stopping on diesel) and your regular tank for used veggie oil.

in a warm climate like sunny southern california, you might be able to get away with just running the used veggie oil in your tank with no mods.I want to burn veg oil in my old diesel Mercedes. How is this done?

Why does a car burn oil when it is too rich?

It has to run rich long enough to thin the oil with unburned gas. If the oil is thin enough, it will get past the oil control rings on the pistons and the seals on the valves and be burned. If this happens, the oil burning is the least of your problems. Oil this diluted does a bad job of lubricating and it's just a matter of time before the engine is destroyed. Why does a car burn oil when it is too rich?
Engines running 'rich'; do not cause the engine to burn oil.

Rich refers to the fuel air ratio, to much fuel not enough air.

The car will have grey / dark smoke from the exhaust when it is very 'rich', that is not oil burning, it is soot , unburned fuel.

    White smoke is oil.

burning oil is not caused by running fuel rich.

Yours: GrumpyWhy does a car burn oil when it is too rich?
It's not burning oil. The black smoke you see is unburnt excess fuel.

Is it better to burn #1 or #2 fuel oil in our furnace?

We have always burned #1 but someone just told us that is like burning kerosene. We have a fairly new oil burning furnace and now are wondering if we burn the wrong fuel oil in it?Is it better to burn #1 or #2 fuel oil in our furnace?
I'm not sure if this will help you but it's a startIs it better to burn #1 or #2 fuel oil in our furnace?
Our oil tank is outside, and usually we use #2 because it's less expensive, however it will freeze in a 1/2 inch pipe if it gets really cold. # 1 is more expensive, but it won't freeze.
It is NOT like burning kerosene.

    Check your furnace manual.

#1 is lower in sulfur and some other items than #2, but IF I remember correctly, MOST furnaces can burn #2 with no problems.

How can I stop it?How to stop oil burn?
either bad valve seals or worn piston rings, have a mechanic do a compression check on it and hope for just bad valve seals. How to stop oil burn?
Most likely, the cause is worn piston rings. They will need to be replaced which is expensive (though I'm not sure exactly how expensive on a Neon, honestly)

How many miles? Have you changed the oil when necessary? Used the proper viscosity? Ever overheated the engine?
    get a new motor
Oil burning occurs when either oil gets past the piston rings or valve guides. Either one indicates the need for a rebuild. This usually happens in higher mileage cars. If the buring oil is coming from under the hood, then you probably have a leaky valve/cam cover gasket.
try a thicker oil it might help some or they have some engine restore stuff at the auto part store that is supposed to work but it is all just a temp fix

Are you talking about using used cooking oil to make bio-diesel? The only thing in that case is a LOT of oil filters. It cleans out the system of the build up left by the dynodiesel and you will be changing fuel filters on a very regular basis for a couple of weeks. If you are talking about running it direct it would be a major undertaking. You would have to preheat the oil to the proper viscosity, and probably up your injector pressure and make sure your entire injection system could handle it. It would cost you a fortune!

How fast does the oil used to heat a home burn?

I have just moved into a house that use oil to heat it. I've never dealt with oil before in my life. The tank is a 275 gal tank. I was wondering on avg. how fast oil burns. How long should a 275 gal tank last me in the cold winter months? It's a 3 story home with a basement, 6 rooms on first floor, 3 huge rooms on second floor. Oh and we are surrounded by crops... and about 3 trees plus the house across the street. How fast does the oil used to heat a home burn?
It will depend on how well the house is insulated, and what

    the weather is like.

Do expect to need deliveries at least once a month in winter.

You might not empty the tank, but you don't want the level to

get too low in case weather delays deliveries. How fast does the oil used to heat a home burn?
There is no way for us to tell you how much oil you will use. That depends on many factors like the temperatures inside and out, windows, drapes, insulation, the size of house, the efficiency of the unit and on and on.

I can say the average oil burner will burn 0.65 gph, that is .65 gallons per hour when the burner is operating. Newer ones a little less, older ones a little more.

If the tank was getting deliveries regularly the oil company has a record in order to schedule deliveries. They can also tell you the ';average'; use in your area in different months. So they are the ones to ask. People often ask them this question so don't worry about asking them.

Another reason for keeping the tank full is that the more air space the more condensation you get in the tank and the more often it needs cleaning. I know it seems like money in the ground but keeping it full reduces problems.

    Good Luck.

  • Does converting a diesel engine to burn both fuel and vegetable oil significantly reduce the emissions?

I just bought a great vehicle that has a 4 cylinder diesel engine that gets great fuel economy but I would like to do more. I have already had it into the shop to help me reduce the occasional smoking that it does but I have seen a few people who have converted the vehicle to burn BOTH diesel and veggie oil. Dose anyone know if this alternative fuel will actually reduce my individual emissions? Are there any recourses out there to do the conversion myself? Thanx!!Does converting a diesel engine to burn both fuel and vegetable oil significantly reduce the emissions?
It may not reduce your individual emissions but that technology is for re-using filtered oil thats been used at a restaurant for their food. so instead of it getting shipped off to some waste landfill it can be used a second time and not polute the ground. Don't need any more oil to produce diesel than gasoline... Diesel fuel is processed less than gasoline.Does converting a diesel engine to burn both fuel and vegetable oil significantly reduce the emissions?
gasoline is better. diesel engines give out a heck load of smog

I truly have faith in humanity and believe that someday our lives and the world in which we live will truly be transformed for the better.
Not likely. Diesel produces more waste than a regular gasoline engine. In fact, you also need 25% more oil to produce diesel than you would need to produce gasoline. Although many companies hype diesel engines, I truly believe they are just as wasteful if not more so than a regular gasoline engine. The best thing to do would be to buy a vehicle which gets high mpg (Toyota corolla etc...). A hybrid vehicle is good, but unless you are doing a lot of highway driving it is not necessarily worth what you pay because it will get the same mpg city driving as a regular gasoline car. Flex-fuel vehicles are probably the best options right now. There are also hydrogen vehicles which are equally as good. Flex-fuel has been around since the 1970s in Brazil, how come the U.S. hasn't incorporated them into our fuel industry? Because the oil companies are in with the government that's why.

When cooking pork chops (or anything) in a pan with oil - how do you not burn the food? We've tried everything

Lowering the heat, turning frequently, etc. To not burn them, it takes forever since you're constantly turning the food. On the Food Network, you constantly see them cooking in oil on the pan and the stuff never burns - what's their story? When cooking pork chops (or anything) in a pan with oil - how do you not burn the food? We've tried everything
If you really have tried everything, then my only guess is that your pan isn't as heavy as it ought to be. Thin-bottomed pans communicate very fierce heat to food and often burn them, which is why nobody dry-fries anything in a wok for longer than about 30 seconds.

The guys on the Food Network are professional cooks, they're trained not to burn things. Never mind about them. Get yourself a heavier pan - something made of cast iron, for instance. And experiment with the heat. You want the food to brown, not burn.

Also, I hope you're using olive oil in preference to other oils, and extra virgin in preference to ordinary olive oil. I know it's more expensive but otherwise you might as well use butter, for all the good it's doing you. (Incidentally, butter is much healthier for you than margarine.)

Putting a lid on something frying in a pan is insane, by the way, unless you like your pork chops steamed rather than fried. It also increases the temperature and dries out the food much quicker. When cooking pork chops (or anything) in a pan with oil - how do you not burn the food? We've tried everything
Do you have thin skillets or something? To cook pork chops or chicken a long time in a skillet does take forever, relatively. I take about 45 minutes to cook either. After browning on both sides, lower the heat, add a Tbsp of water and cover. Perhaps that will help.
begin with high heat for about 3 min...then reduce heat to med.high 4-5 min. ...then low or simmer til golden brown wait about 10 min bfore turning the meat over on other side...this works for me..meat is thoroughly cooked and tender...yummy
    Heat your pan with oil.

Place the pork chops in the pan.

With heat to med-high...brown both sides, turning once.

Put the LID on it and, turn the head down to med-low at least.

The lid will keep the steam in the pan to help cook the chops, and they will be moist too.
I always use medium heat. Do not constantly turn food especially if you are trying to brown something.

Very seldom do I ever use high heat.

I use high heat to bring water to a boil or to stir fry only.
A cast iron skillet works beautifully for frying. I don't really understand what it is you are doing to burn your fried foods though. I preheat my oil in a cast iron skillet over medium heat to about 350-375 degrees. Frequent turning SHOULD NOT be done when frying. Research the item you are frying and you will know exactly how long to fry it on each side. I often fry pork chops and I fry them 5-7 minutes per side, only turning them once.
The key is to make sure that your pan is to heated to cooking temp. When you see that the oil is fizzing or when you splash a drop of water and it sizzles then your pan is ready for you to put the chop in. Don't put too many chops in at a time because the more items in the pan the lower the temp of the oil will become. Cook on a medium heat til golden then flip onto the other side til golden. Remove from pan drain and then place in a preheated oven of 350 F for 5-10 minutes depending on your oven and the inner portion of the chop will be cooked.

I have done this with fried chicken as well. Cooking it until golden and crispy and placing in the oven for remainder of cooking time.

Bacon can also be cooked in the oven at 400 F for 15-20 minutes and you will have beautifully cooked crispy strips w/o having to stand over the fryer to do it.
You may need to use a heavier thicker stainlees steel or iron skillet.Put a lid on as soon as brown and the steam created will finish cooking the pork chop, steak, or whatever.
Don't cook the food on high heat to begin with.

Heat your pan to medium to medium high. Drizzle a bit fo oil or use PAM.

Place seasoned pork chop in pan and cook for 4-6 minutes. You want to cook it mostly on one side and flip it only once. Same with burgers and steaks. When you do flip, it should only have to brown the other side and it should be done. Check for doneness by pressing it with your finger. If it is firm, then it is done. If is soft and mushy, it is not done. It takes some practice to get this down, but once you make few and check for doneness you will understand the whole firmness thing.

If you still have problems, it may be that you need a heavier pan. Really thin bottomed pans always burn food.
coat your pan with the spray on cooking oil (PAM etc) rather than pour oil into the pan. Use the cooking oil (1/4 tsp) to mix your spices up in to make a rub for your chops. Cook on medium heat for 3 minutes on each side then finish cooking in the oven at 350F for 45 minutes (that's the secret they don't show or tell you about)

Why does clove oil make the skin burn?

If it's just oil, and if just a little goes on it starts to burn, almost too badly of a burning sensation to bear and it must be wiped off, almost but not too much, wow . Why does it burn? Why does clove oil make the skin burn?
In the world of henna body art (Mehndi), many find bottles of clove (Syzygium aromaticum) oil suggested for use after you have removed the henna paste in order to make the design set and become darker. These oils are also in a blended form and simply called ';Mehndi Oil';. Unfortunately many have suffered severe burns after using the oil on their skin. This has caused many to suggest not using clove oil at all. Clove oil causing irritation and dermatitis is not new to those trained in Aromatherapy. Cloves contain a major irritant called ';eugenol';. The area of the plant that contains the least amount of this natural chemical is the buds. The buds of cloves also produce a good amount of oil but not surpassingly can only be harvested at a limited, certain time of the year. This causes some (greedy) growers and manufactures to substitute oil extracted from the stems and leaves of the clove plant. This creates a very toxic oil that can burn the skin.

don't fry...it is not healthy anyway.
Simple ... don't fry with oil. It is likely that you are cooking on high heat and the smoke is getting ot you. Lower the heat.
If you have a range hood, turn on the exhaust fan. I'm not trying to be a smart aleck, it's just I tend to forget to turn mine on and frying oil is one of those things that gets my eyes - even more than cutting onions.

Is it safe to burn used car oil?

I changed the oil in my Jeep a while ago and am about to make a big fire. Would it be safe to bun the oil? Is it excessively bad for the environment? Is it safe to burn used car oil?
Many garages that accept used oil use it to help heat the garage in the winter. It is burned in a waste oil furnace.

If burned on a brush or debris pile, it will smoke a lot, may soak into the ground if not totally burned, and may be against the terms on your burn permit.

You're better off to take it to a garage for disposal. Is it safe to burn used car oil?
It's actually fine to burn the used oil. You can search the internet and find companies that make ';used oil burners'; for heating purposes.

It does smell bad when it burns, and it will smoke a bunch, but that's about the worst of it. and as with ANY smoke ... you don't want to breathe it.
Bad for the environment and probably toxic to you. Take the used oil to an auto parts store where they will dump it for you
not much different than burning coal.

I wonder where they dump it when they dispose of it. Do they store it in thousands of barrels indefinately? probably makes more sense to burn it.
Been there. Done that. not exactly the best choice for the environment though cause it smokes pretty good.
Please Please Recycle it at any auto store.

What would cause a 1991 Honda Civic Hatchback 1.5l to burn oil and have blue smoke?

    Specs:

    1991 Honda Civic HB

    d15b2 engine 1.5 liters

    155000 miles

i have owned the car for about 3 months,

the burning oil was very consistent at first, but now it seems to be burning more oil. Very little or no smoke comes out at idle, but once the gas is pessed, blue smoke comes out of the exhaust, especially when the car was just started. Just this week tho the car started to run very slow, seems like no compression. So i havent driven it past 4k rpm to be safe.

I think it might be the valve seals, but a professional answer would be greatly appreciated. thank you.

Do you know what it is?What would cause a 1991 Honda Civic Hatchback 1.5l to burn oil and have blue smoke?
Yikes!!! You are looking at some BIG $$$$ to fix that!!

With age (as previously mentioned) the piston rings will wear and expand, and then let oil into the gas mixture, which then tries to burn, and then comes out of exhaust as smoke.

An old adage was if it's white smoke, no worry, but blue smoke means trouble. The blue in the smoke is the burning oil.

And especially if you're not getting compression, your car is almost dead!! Really. Do not drive it anymore until fixed. It is dangerous to do so, because you might damage the car more.

Unfortunately, a ring job is not cheap. might even be cheaper to get another car. Sorry about that.

Call local garages, ask for ';ballpark'; estimate for ring job on your car. Probably be $1,000 or more, but I'm not sure. What would cause a 1991 Honda Civic Hatchback 1.5l to burn oil and have blue smoke?
think you need a new engine
Agree with ring wear - major expense to fix

could also be head gasket - ditto expense

To check your compression, simple test: with car running, hold a dollar bill to the tail pipe, if the bill is sucked to the exhaust, instead of being blown away from it, you have lost compression. ( Wish I could remember which mechanic taught me that one.)
You are probably right, you are losing compression. You're likely getting blowby on your piston rings. The valve seats could cause some smoke, since oil is splashed on the heads, but since you say it gets worse during acceleration, my money is on ring wear.
    Age.
Could be cracked Head. Call a shop that does repairs on auto's and if they want your business or are a good business they will give you info on your car over the phone.
The engine is worn out. Time for a rebuild.
rings are bad ,it is worn out
the problem is your not reving the engine enough try red lining it this should fix the problem permantly

Just wondering at what temperature oil can cause a burn?

I know high temperatures can, but is there a general limit where oil below this temperature wont burn you?How hot does oil have to be to burn you?
I think it is a function of time and temperature. I can hold something at 140 deg F for a few seconds before I have to let go. My guess would be that if you had oil on your skin at 150 deg F you would get a burn.

What causes an oil furnace to burn black smoke?

2 people have already told you what you need to do...call a pro when it comes to an oil burner. You have the basics of a Jet Engine running in your basement and while fuel oil is pretty safe if everything is right. There is a serious chance that something bad could happen if you work on it yourself without the proper training...its just too dangerous. What causes an oil furnace to burn black smoke?
To add my 2 cents worth, it takes very little time to completely clog a heat exchanger with soot if your fire is dirty enough to make black smoke come out of the chimney. Besides leading to a filthy clean-up, each 1/8 inch of soot build-up is equivalent to 1 inch of fiberglass insulation wrapped around the heat exchanger. In other words, less heat can get through the soot and into your exchange medium (warm air or hot water). The wind-up is that you're pushing dollar bills up the chimney as fast as you can, until the exchanger clogs and nothing goes through. What causes an oil furnace to burn black smoke?
Your furnace probably has too much oil and not enough air to burn properly. You need to get a heating technician to check it out. Might be something as easy as a good cleaning and adjusting will fix the problem.
could be many things or something as simple as a good cleaning. Like others have said find a reputable furnace tech to check it for you.
Incomplete combustion of the oil will do that.
    bad.

That would be a Lampe Berger, pronounced Bear-zhay. They are kind of expensive, to buy and to run, but they're nice and they work. Hard to say what kind of store you'll find them in locally. I've seen them in kitchen stores, jewellers, and hardware stores that sell nice stuff for your house. You can buy them online too. You have to use only the kind of oil, or whatever it is, that's made for that type of lamp. Berger sells it of course, wherever the lamps are sold, and there's also a brand called Alexandria's that works and it's a bit cheaper.
Are you talking about kerosene lamps? Or hurricane lamps? I'm not sure exactly what your talking about but those two came to mind

Do older cars burn more oil or is it lost?

I have a 2003 Jeep Liberty and it has been 6000 miles per oil change and only darkened its oil. but I have a 98 Honda Civic that has been consistently going dry at about 4000miles per oil change. Why is this, do the seals leak or is there potentially another problem (warped piston, etc...)Do older cars burn more oil or is it lost?
Your Honda is most likely burning the oil. Before catalytic converters, you used to see blue smoke from the tailpipe, especially during start-up or hard acceleration. Modern catalytic converters mask this symptom as everything is burned in the catalytic converter.

Have a compression check done on the engine. An engine service manual should tell how much compression there is supposed to be.

To see if it is leaking, first look under the car and see if you can spot any evidence of a leak.

Another neat trick is to place a piece of white poster board on the floor under the engine. Make a mark on the cardboard at the center-line of each wheel to get a reference point.

Drive the car, allowing it to reach full operating temperature and park it over the cardboard. Allow enough tile for the car to cool, preferably overnight.

    Examine the cardboard for fluids.

    Black or brown = Oil

    Red = Automatic transmission

Greenish sweet smelling = coolant Note: This will be orange if you have the long life Dex Cool coolant.

Clear oily = Power Steering or brake fluid

    Clear = Check for gasoline.

Note the location of these stains in relationship to your reference point. Place the car on jack stands and look above these areas and many times you can spot the source of the leak.

    Repair accordingly.

You are waiting too long between oil changes on both vehicles. You are following the schedule for light duty. Very few vehicles qualify as light duty in regards to the maintenance schedule. You should be changing the oil every 3000 miles. Don't forget to change the PCV valve about once a year. A plugged PCV valve can cause crankcase pressure to build and blow oil out all over the place.Do older cars burn more oil or is it lost?
it could be burning the oil or losting it. If it is burning it, you might just need to have a tune up and could solve a lot of it.
Gaskets break down over time due to the engine heat. This allows oil to leak out of the engine. Replacing oil pan and valve cover gaskets should fix the problem.
my 1977 Pontiac Catalina Safari Station Wagon with 240,000 miles on it only darkens the oil . . and it usually isn't low . .I have changed the oil every 3000miles on the car since I got it.
warped piston ..no worn rings or valve guides maybe.

    ase tech
Most likely the valve seals are leaking or oil is getting through the piston rings.

A compression test both wet and dry should allow you to determine which is leaking and you can get it fixed if you desire.
First of all, 4000 miles for an oil chandge is too much. The recommended mileage is 3000. And that's even a little high. But if you want to save a few bucks in between oil changes, it's probably your best bet. Naturally, after the guaranteed life of an oil has ended, it begins to disintegrate. My advice is to not let this happen because you are looking at an eventual overhaul on your engine, when the engine can last for years without giving you any problems at all.
If youre going 6000 miles between oil changes its very possible that the piston rings have worn and its burning oil.

Also older cars tend to leak.

(I would suggest you change your oil more often.)

What would make an car engine burn off so much oil?

Every time i check my oil, the dipstick levels are always low. What would make an car engine burn off so much oil?
Oil is used to lubricate engine parts, it is not supposed to burn off... If you have a leak where the oil is leaking into the combustion chamber, that could be where you're burning oil...

have a mechanic check it out...What would make an car engine burn off so much oil?
It could be leaking out. Have you checked the spot where you park the car to see if an oil spot is growing? If so, you will need to replace some gaskets, pan or valve rocker arm covers.

Second, is the car smoking???? If so, the oil rings are worn out, or broken, and need to be replaced. The compression rings should also be replaced which leads to the question.....should I just have the whole engine overhauled? Yes, if you go into the engine that deeply, just finish the job since the hardest part is already done. Good luck. Pops
well your car has either bad rings or a bad gasket out.
As an engine ages, the piston rings wear out, allowing lubricating oil from the crankcase to enter the cylinders. Your engine needs an overhaul.
leaking? burning due to loose rings? big puddle under the car?
    Uhhhh,

    Model, year, engine, mileage.

THROW US A FRIKKIN' BONE HERE, ALRIGHT????
Check for obvious leaks on the engine or under the engine. Repair any simple gasket or seal leak you find. If no visible wet leakage, have someone look at the tailpipe when you 1st start the engine cold to see if any BLUE smoke is emitted from your tailpipe. This will indicate worn valve guides or valve seals usually found on high mileage engines. Next time your on the highway, open the throttle and see if you can notice the same blue smoke trail behind your car. Again with high mileage, the rings on the pistons may be worn. If the car is still worth repairing, then take it to a reputable mechanic in your area. If not, begin seaching for a replacement car.

    good luck

Is oil going to burn away our stuff?

I was amazed to see how many things are made from oil biproducts. Everthing in your living room from your couch to your tv has some sort of oil. I was just thinking, our great great great granchildren might not have empty livingrooms, because if we keep burning oil as a fuel, there wont be anything to make their stuff with.Is oil going to burn away our stuff?
I'm sure my great great great grandfather was worried I wouldn't have a TV.

Like back in the 1800's when they only had black and white TV and books to read, I don't think they aasted their time on crappy thoughts like this.Is oil going to burn away our stuff?
There are alternative materials that could be used, and likely will be.

In the short term we are not running out of oil but we are running out of low cost oil, so more costly materials will become cost effective to replace oil.

Most plastics can be made with soy instead of oil, but of course we may prefer to eat the soy oil products or use them as motor fuel, making soy more expensive too.

There is going to be a lot of adjustment, and one of them is going to be using less fuel, and less of a lot of pre-garbage we cart home from wal-mart today.
Unfortunately, some political leaders do not have the vision like you do. Their terms are long over before we run out of oil.
I think so...... I'd say yes.

  • Does drinking hot water help burn the oil in ur body?

like after eating greasyy food, would it help in a good way?

i not, how is it good for you?Does drinking hot water help burn the oil in ur body?
I always drink hot water after meals! It doesn't ';burn'; the oil in your body though. Why it is good to drink after meals is because it softens up the food and helps break it down so it is easier in our intestine and stomach to digest. Drinking ice cold water after meals will solidify the food and make it harder to digest. Hot water also feels good after a big meal. I hope I helped! If you don't have any teas just drink the hot water, no caffieneDoes drinking hot water help burn the oil in ur body?
digestion is a warm process. Warm fluids facilitate this process, cold fluids inhibit it. But green tea is a much better choice than hot water. It prevents heart disease, vascular disease, cancer, cavities; increases metabolism; decreases appetite; regulates blood sugar and blood pressure; lowers lipids, triglycerides, and cholesterol; strengthens bones; improves mood; and prevents chromosomal damage to the eggs and sperm (for those trying to conceive).

It dissolves fat in the stomach. Fat is hard to digest and slows the metabolism.
No but ice water helps burn a few extra colories because your body has to use energy to warm it up to your body temp.
No! Drink a cup of hot boiled water first thing in the morning ,will help with constipation !
no it just makes you vomit out everything

Shouldn't Dems pay us to burn oil since it returns carbon to the atmosphere where it came from?

Huh?Shouldn't Dems pay us to burn oil since it returns carbon to the atmosphere where it came from?
You do realize that back when all that carbon was in the atmosphere, the atmosphere had no free oxygen and did not support life as we know it.Shouldn't Dems pay us to burn oil since it returns carbon to the atmosphere where it came from?
Why should we ';pay'; and who is ';us';? I didn't realize that Dems were the only ones using the atmosphere.
Small amounts of carbon should be in the air, but excessive amounts lead to CO2 and more deadly, CO
Ah, child, oil comes from the ground.
Put a cork in Michelle -- cut CO2 emissions by 50%

What kind of oil does my lamp burn?

It's like the one in the movie Aladdin with the genie. What kind of oil does my lamp burn?
I suggest that you use lamp oil:

Lamp oil is a liquid petroleum product that is designed to burn cleanly in brass and glass oil lamps, torches and lanterns. In the same family as kerosene, lamp oil has been further processed and refined so that it doesn't produce as much harmful smoke, soot and other pollutants.

You can buy it on Amazon.com or on many other online outlets:

An ';Aladdin's lamp'; style lamp with an open wick probably will burn pretty much any oil (mineral or vegetable) that you care to put in it. Kerosene is cheap, and it burns easily with a bright flame. So-called ';lamp oil'; is just highly-purified kerosene. (FWIW, so is jet fuel). The K-1 kerosene that you can buy at a pump at some gas stations typically has impurities in it---typically sulfur---that make it somewhat smellier and sootier than the pure stuff.

Yes, the oil for bamboo torches would work, but beware! Oil sold specifically for tiki lamps sometimes contains citronella---great for repelling mosquitos, but you should not burn it indoors.

Here's a tip. Try burning charcoal lighter fluid. I use lighter fluid in my hurricane lamps. It's cheaper than ';lamp oil,'; and the smell is not as bad as K1 kerosene. It may be a little too volatile though. If the flame pops and sputters, then you should either lower the wick, and see if that helps, or you should discontinue using it altogether.
I would like to correct you Darkrai. Lamps use kerosene oil (which is also used in airplanes) which is a hydrocarbon. It is highly inflammable i.e, it burns without leaving any residue.

    Hope it helps!!!
lamps burn an oil called kerosene which is highly flammable

Do any of the engine oil additives work for cars that burn or leak oil?

I need to put a new quart in about every 2 months. I don't see any smoke at startup ordriving, and there's no oil stains in the driveway.Do any of the engine oil additives work for cars that burn or leak oil?
The ONLY additive I would use is SFR. They are the ones that invented most of the technologies for additives and are not just some marketing company like lucas oil or slick 50.

I used to think all additives were snake oil until I tried ProTecta Synthetic Engine Treatment from SFR.

They also have an interesting article on why additives work on their blog.Do any of the engine oil additives work for cars that burn or leak oil?
My family swears by Lucas oil treatment, actually any lucas additive. I loose a quart every 500 miles, unless I use it. huge improvement.
Every 2 months is not bad, should be about due for a change near then. How many miles on the car? how many miles everytime you add oil? make and model, and year of car would also help.
Yeahs there are several that will do the trick. I am a retired mechanic and would highly reccomend ';LUCAS OIL TREATMENT'; That be some good stuff then second would be STP
It could have mixed with your radiator water.

easiest thing to do would be an Internet search for a wholesaler where you could buy in bulk for your store, even ebay has some.
