I was making french fries and I carelessly threw the potatoes in the hot oil causing hot oil to splatter on my fingers. I ran my fingers under cold water and then iced it, but it still burns (it's been over 2 hours). How can I alleviate this? How can I alleviate an oil burn?
It will be painful for a while. Continue to apply ice. If you have it, apply some aloe vera, or triple antibiotic w/ pain killer in it. You could also take pail reliever, such as tylenol or aspirin. How can I alleviate an oil burn?
There isn't much you can do for the burning sensation, you can take an otc pain reliever, it may help alittle.
If it is more than a few small spots see a doctor, a burn covering the fingers can cause scarring and impair movement of your fingers and should be cared for by a dermatologist.
Do not pop the blisters, the fluid underneath will eventually be reabsorbed leaving you with scabs. Keep clean, dry and covered to prevent blisters from being opened. You want to prevent infection and intact skin is your best defence.
Do you have any aloe plants? If not, try this old home remedy....cut a FRESH onion in half and squeeze hard until you jet juice. Apply this juice to the affected area. Sounds strange, but it works as long as you use a FRESH onion, not one that has already been cut.
