Is it normal for a Subaru to burn a little oil when it starts up in the cold?

It burns a bit of oil when I start it up in below freezing temperatures, is it normal? Is it normal for a Subaru to burn a little oil when it starts up in the cold?
also are you sure its oil? it could just be condensation... if its definitely blue smoke on startup, something is wrong, that's not normal.

that said, the subaru 'spec' for excessive oil consumption is more than 1qt of oil every 1000 miles. i guess if its less than that and its an old car, don't worry about it just keep dumping in more oil and keep on running it into the groundIs it normal for a Subaru to burn a little oil when it starts up in the cold?
I've owned Subarus for 8 years and never had one burn any oil that was enough that i had to add oil between oil changes. I had 1 2.2 and 1 2.5.
no the valve guides are worn, but it doesnt hurt anything for a vehicle to burn a little bit of oil, as long as you check it like a person should anyway.
It is normal situation that your subby burn a little oil in winter and even in the worst driving condition (rpm beyond 4000) for those highway drive.

Just check your oil every 1000 mile while you are in the gas station or before start the engine.

I am assuming that you have the regular H-4 engine instead of those STi or turbo or H-6 engine.
no cause in the winter time its the hardest time for ur car o start and all cars burn oil its a lubricate that's use for the piston and the piston chamber dont wrry unless u drive and cc smoke coming out of ur car then ur burning to much oil but u would smell like burning rubber whn driving ur car
