It should not use more that a few CC's between oil changes. If your noticing smoke then you may have a ring problem. Good luck.Anyone know if the Ninja 650R is supposed to burn oil?
If it is a new bike- the first 1000 miles breakin period will usually have some oil loss and burning as rings seat- a little white smoke is normal.
Another source of oil smoke is engine breather system usually vents now to intake manifold- burns a bit more new. If you have over 5000 miles on engine and lots of white smoke- ring or valve guide problem ppossible, I would check for emissions breather valve problem first, check valves known to occasionly break or get stuck open..Anyone know if the Ninja 650R is supposed to burn oil?
Only 2-stroke engines are designed to burn oil. 4-strokes are not.
Having said that, it's normal for an internal combustion engine to consume a small amount of oil during operation. If you think the oil consumption is excessive, have the bike checked out.
